For fabric backdrops with grommets or delicate garland decorations where a dowel might ruin the look, use removable damage-free ceiling hooks

Command damage-free ceiling hooks for hanging party decorations

the details

Attach removable hooks to the ceiling running the width of where you want your backdrop to hang
Calculate the distance from the ceiling hook to the height you want the top of your backdrop to hang at
Cut several lengths of ribbon / twine to the measurement calculated
If hanging a fabric backdrop with grommets, thread the lengths of ribbon / twine through several grommets and tie to the ceiling hooks
For backdrops with individual strands tied to a horizontal hanging string, such as paper garland decorations, tie your lengths of ribbon / twine at various points along the width of the backdrop’s hanging string and hang from the ceiling hooks
In addition to backdrops, you can also use these to hang other garland-style or hanging decorations directly from the ceiling

“I’ve seen some negative reviews saying the hooks can still rip paint off the wall, but I’ve never had that problem and suspect those reviewers just ripped them off without following the instructions in this video.

If you have a backdrop that comes with it’s own hanging string, I’d recommend hanging it from several hooks all along the width of the backdrop. If you just hang it from a hook at each end (and maybe one in the middle), it will sag.”
