the why

This Idea

  • Height; provides a tall display stand to make the back row of your dessert table stand out
  • Stand alone; can be set up in a different location to offer guests an interim snack to tide them over until the dessert table opens
  • Congestion; allows guests to ‘grab and go’ to reduce lines and congestion around the dessert table
  • Decor; turn the treats themselves into part of the theming and decor
  • Visibility; tall / tabletop decor is easier to see when room is full of people
  • Elevates; makes simple, everyday, store-bought, or filler treats more attractive
  • Elegant; allows you to present treat cones vertically, rather than flat, to make them more visually appealing and prevent contents spilling out
  • Professional; gives your dessert table a stylish and professionally-catered look
  • Re-usable; can be kept and reused for future events
  • Inexpensive; budget-friendly versions available for around $15

the why

dessert table display stands

  • Height; prevents your dessert table looking flat, lifeless, and underwhelming
  • Groups; displaying one type of treat per stand gives your dessert table a stylish, defined, and well-ordered look
  • Rows; arranging treats in rows lends a slick, modern, and professional appearance
  • Levels; different levels make the eye work harder to take everything in, resulting in exploration, discovery, and surprise
  • Visual Spectacle; a variety of different display stands, risers, serving trays, and containers prevents your dessert table looking dull and monotonous

ADVICE FROM A PRO

Matt’s tip

Matt James professional event planner

“Treat cones are great for controlling the portion size of more expensive or unusual items, such as chocolate truffles, freeze-dried ice cream, freeze-dried candy, chocolate bacon, cookie dough, and chocolate dipped strawberries, where you just want guests to have smaller amounts of ‘fun to try’ treats.

Alternatively, use them to make ‘filler’ items, such as donut holes, fruit, boozy popcorn, gourmet savory popcorn, gourmet sweet popcorn, nuts / trail mix, candy, and gourmet cotton candy, feel more special.

For more treat ideas to serve in cones, along with info on customized cones and disposable mini forks / spoons, check out my separate post about disposable food cones.

Any food served in cones looks more elegant and visually appealing when displayed vertically using a treat cone stand. Also, when laid flat on serving plates you always end up with some of the contents spilling out; making a mess, reducing portion size, and creating waste.”
