the how

  • Choose size from 2ft to 6ft. The larger the better works best.
  • Email photo(s) of the guest of honor to the seller
  • On receipt, hang or fix to the wall at the entrance to your party

the why

Entrance Decorations

  • Functional; identifies party location and directs guests to the entrance
  • Welcoming; a warm welcome subliminally puts guests at ease (versus a bare/cold entrance)
  • First impressions matter; guests make judgments and form opinions quickly
  • Attention to detail; many people overlook the importance of having some entrance decorations to greet guests
  • Anticipation; exterior decorations build anticipation and tease whatโ€™s to come

this idea

  • Special occasions should feel special; generic โ€˜off the shelfโ€™ decorations are lazy and unimaginative
  • Personalized; customized decorations are more special and show you made an effort
  • Custom photo; opportunity to show the guest of honor at different ages โ€˜through the yearsโ€™
  • Dramatic; makes a big and bold first impression to wow guests from the start
  • Sets the tone; signals that itโ€™s going to be a fun event
  • Funny; quirky, lighthearted, or self-deprecating decorations will make guests smile
  • Entertaining; guests may not have seen funny or embarrassing old photos of the guest of honor
  • Memorable; guests remember creative, unusual, or unexpected decorations
  • Photo-worthy; a great photo-op for guests to share and tag on social media
  • Surprise; a great way to surprise the guest of honor as they arrive
  • Unusual; a less common party idea to impress guests

ADVICE FROM A PRO

Matt’s tip

Matt James professional event planner

“For milestone birthdays or anniversaries, these are often more fun if you used an older photo of the guest of honor. Perhaps the birthday boy/girl as a baby / child or the happy couple on their wedding day. Guests love seeing embarrassing old photos.

If budget permits, you could also print several heads, each using a photo of the guest of honor at a different age, to show them ‘through the years.’

Alternatively, take a ‘Then & Now’ approach by printing two heads, one with a photo of them ‘back in the day’ and one using a more recent photo.

However many your budget permits, guests will definitely spot where the party’s at!”
