ADVICE FROM A PRO
Matt’s tip
“I prefer to use a mix of square and rectangular disposable party serving trays / plates, because it lends dessert tables a more stylish, modern, professional, neat, and ordered look.
However, adding the occasional circular serving tray can help prevent your display looking too rigid and symmetrical.
I like to use rectangular plates to display larger desserts, such as those using martini glasses, mason jars, milk bottles, dessert cups, skewers, and tasting spoons, in a single row, and smaller or loose treats, such as mini cupcakes, brownies, donuts, and macarons, in two rows.
Just remember not to cram too man on each plate, give each treat plenty of space to breathe, and use a mix of landscape and portrait orientation.
Square plates are good for arranging smaller dessert containers, such as shooter glasses, mini mugs, and novelty treat containers, or bite-size treats in a grid formation so you can get more on one plate.
Whether square or rectangular, only present one type of treat or dessert on each plate—it looks far more stylish then mixing them.
