ADVICE FROM A PRO

Matt’s tip

Matt James professional event planner

“Iโ€™d recommend keeping all the candy sushi together on a serving platter when you present it on your dessert table.

Much of the wow-factor comes from seeing all the different faux sushi pieces, from rolls to nigiri, (almost) passing as the real thing. Splitting them up or portioning them would just dilute the overall impression.

That said, if you’re worried about guests taking more than one, and want to communicate a suggested portion size, you could plate each piece on individual disposable tasting plates. Then just arrange all the plates together in a grid so that you still get the visual effect of seeing all the different types of candy sushi together.

Remember, while the larger platters offer a big visual spectacle, this candy sushi is all about adding a fun, quirky element to your dessert table that will create a talking point. So, don’t worry if you’re budget won’t allow for large quantities; you’ll still create a wow-factor with a smaller selection.

Note you can also get customized candy sushi made with specific colors and added logos and/or text (see pics below). Although not quite as realistic, it’s a more budget-friendly option. Check out the links below.”
