Matt’s tip
“You’ll need to cut the melon slices between 3/4 and 1 inch thick. Let the depth of your alphabet cookie cutters inform the thickness of your slices.
Don’t cut the fruit too far in advance or it can start looking a bit limp and brown. Brush or spray with lemon juice to prevent browning.
You need to give the cutters a good whack with the palm of your hand to push them into the melon. If they get stuck, use the skewers to poke them out.
Some letters, such as E, are more fragile than others so be careful not to break as you thread onto skewers.
I’d recommend using a custom text printable sign (see below) in a display stand to communicate simple instructions for guests to follow.”
