Food Pipettes

the idea

Give simple buffet bites that professionally-catered look with a squeeze of sauce, gravy, or dressing from a disposable food pipette.

the how

  • Use for:
  • Meatballs, with marinara, gravy, or a dash of hot sauce
  • Stuffed mushrooms or mini quiches, with garlic butter or hollandaise
  • Sushi bites, with soy sauce
  • Deviled eggs, with hot sauce or a smoked paprika oil
  • Charcuterie bites or cheese cubes, with honey or balsamic
  • Bruschetta, with a drizzle of good olive oil or balsamic
  • Pulled pork bites or sliders, with a shot of bourbon or whiskey
  • Caprese salad bites, with balsamic
  • Shrimp, with mango & lime sauce
  • Salmon gravlax, with cucumber & mint sauce
  • Seared tuna, with a ginger vinaigrette
  • Format. Soft, squeezable food-safe plastic with a narrow tip that stands upright once pushed into food.
  • Capacity. Most hold around 3 to 4ml, though a few sellers offer sizes up to 10ml but always double-check these are food-safe as most are only intended for lab use.
  • Set size. Packs typically run from around 40 up to 150.

the why

WHY This Idea?

  • Moistness; makes drier bites, such as meatballs, chicken, falafel, or mini meatloaf, more moist with a shot of gravy, marinara, or a yogurt-based sauce.
  • Preserves texture; prevents foods like salad, bruschetta, and fish from turning soggy or wilted by serving the sauce or dressing on the side
  • Boozy; allows you to give bites an adult twist with a shot of liquor, e.g. shrimp with vodka, cheese with port, tuna with sake
  • Creative; adds a creative twist to familiar or everyday foods, such as meatballs and salads
  • Inexpensive; a cost-effective party idea that won’t blow your budget
  • Value; low cost idea that creates a big impression
  • Recyclable; pipettes made from polyethylene (PE) are recyclable
  • Unusual; a less common way to present party food to impress guests

the why

Why You Need Small Plates / Bites

  • Visual impact; individual portions lend a stylish, modern, and professionally-catered look to your spread
  • Special occasions should feel special; presentation makes party food look and feel less everyday
  • Elevates; makes simple, home-made, or store-bought foods look and feel more special
  • Portion control; easier to regulate portion size and reduce over-consumption of expensive items
  • Clear up; high-quality disposables can be recycled or thrown away after the event to reduce clearing and cleaning time

ADVICE FROM A PRO

Matt’s tip

Matt James professional event planner

“Check out my Pinterest board ‘Party Food: Pipette Ideas‘ for both sweet and savory recipes to serve with these disposable food pipettes.

If you’re concerned about the environmental effects of single-use plastics, check the product description before buying. Many disposable food pipettes are made from low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and polyethylene is recyclable.

Even food-grade plastics sometimes arrive with a slight plastic-like smell, but if you just leave them in a ventilated space for a few days, the smell will fade away.

Always check that you’ve chosen the food safe version before ordering.
