Once people have passed their 60th, they may well feel less like having a big party to celebrate their birthday. Quite often, they don’t really want a huge fuss made. But that isn’t an excuse not to make an effort.
Instead, you could get a smaller group of people together to do something a little out of the ordinary or even a bit adventurous for their 70th birthday.
When I’m buying someone a birthday gift, I try to choose something that they wouldn’t ordinarily buy for themselves—so that it feels more like a treat or indulgence.
